Belize Welcomes Itz’ana Resort & Residences
By Christine Aebischer
Sales have begun on Itz’ana Resort and Residences, the new development of luxury brand Itz’ana, which features a luxury hotel, waterfront residences and a design line. Located in the coastal village of Placencia, the development enjoys 16 miles of Caribbean peninsula, with the sea on one side and the lagoon on the other. Residences range from $295,000 to over $1 million.
All 39 luxury boutique cottages and villas are located directly on the waterfront, and buyers can choose between beach- or lagoon-front living. Residences range from one to five bedrooms and 1,000 to 5,000 square feet. Features include tall windows and doors with high ceilings to emphasize spacious, open-air living. Architect Roberto de Oliveira Castro uses traditional forms and materials to deliver a modern take on Belize’s British colonial past, and famed interior designer Samuel Amoia will outfit the residences.
Residents will enjoy a vast array of resort amenities, including a rum room, gourmet restaurant, rooftop bar, a full-service marina, 150-foot beachfront pool, rooftop yoga deck, a water sports adventure center, gym, spa with a saltwater pool, a library and conference and meeting facilities. The resort is also next to islands, beaches, rivers, a jungle, caves and the world’s second largest barrier reef, providing residents with endless opportunities for adventure and exploring.
Timbers Resorts Developing 450-Acre Property in Kauai
Renowned Timbers Resorts is developing a luxury private residence club, boutique resort, restaurants and new retail on 450 acres overlooking the ocean on Kauai’s sunny side. The project, now known as Hokuala, was initially envisioned by famed hotelier Chris Hemmeter; however, ownership changes, the devastation of Hurricane Iniki in 1992 and the great recession delayed the development until now.
Because the original development plans began several years ago, some facilities, such as a Jack Nicklaus signature-designed golf course are already in place, which Timbers Resorts will revitalize in their first phase of development, along with the construction of a new golf clubhouse and improving the resort-wide trails, parks and open spaces, according to Mike Cuthbertson, Timbers Resorts’ managing director of development in the Hawaiian Islands.
Also in the project’s initial phase will be the first residential development, to be completed in mid 2017. Upon the project’s completion, there will be a combination of boutique hotel bungalows and residences, hotel-serviced villas, cottages, custom half-acre homesites with golf course and mountain views, an ocean-view residential quad-plex and Timbers Kauai — Ocean Club & Residences. In addition to whole ownership, there are also one-sixth and one-twelfth fractional ownership opportunities.
“There is a pretty dynamic feel to the resort,” says Cuthbertson. “It’s so Kauai with the mountains, crashing ocean waves and an infinity of blue bliss.”
