Celine Dion and René Angélil’s water park/beach complex in Florida was listed on the market in 2013 with no takers. Dion recently agreed to her third price slash on the estate, from originally $72.5 million to $38.5 million, according to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com.
From the original listing, Dion’s asking price has been cutback by almost 50 percent since 2013. The price cuts have been from $72.5 million to $62.5 million to $45.5 million, and now $38.5 million.
Dion and Angélil’s oceanfront resort journey began in 2005 when they bought the Florida home and its 5.7 acres on Jupiter Island for $12.525 million. The couple remodeled the estate and redesigned it as one of their homes at a future date.
They completed their building project in 2010, during the time when Angélil had been fighting cancer. As high profile public figures, the water park was designed to provide their children with a fun environment while shielding them from the public eye and media.
In 2013, with the added stress of Angélil’s worsening cancer battle, the couple chose to put their Florida home on the market for $72.5 million, providing most of its furniture. Neighbors to the new owner would include Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods, who reside just down the road.
The 5.5-acre beachfront property’s #1 centerpiece is the 500,000-gallon water park highlighted by a slow-current lazy river which connects two pools, bridges and a twisting water slide. An additional pool can be found on the resort’s beachside, while the two-story, 10,000-square-foot main residence has five bedrooms with a second-level wraparound terrace with ocean views and multiple main level terraces.
The walk-in closet in the master suite has automated carousels for an easy passage to shoes and clothing with a single touch. There are also two separate four-bedroom guest houses, tennis house, simulated golf range, pool house and beach house.
