The first crystal clear lagoon in the U.S. is now underway in Wesley Chapel, Florida. In June 2014, Crystal Lagoons US, Corp. first announced plans to develop four lagoons in partnership with Metro Development Group near Tampa. “Epperson” will be the first of four master-planned communities to feature a Crystal Lagoon in the U.S., which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017.
Offering 7.5 acres, Crystal Lagoons’ newest location will be the centerpiece amenity to more than 1,000 new homes as part of the Epperson community in Wesley Chapel. The lagoon will be surrounded by beaches, resort-styled activities, and tropical relaxation complete with a water slide, a dock for kayaking, paddle-boarding and small sailboats.
This U.S. Crystal Lagoon will be part of what’s been named the first “Smart Gigabit Community” in the United States to be built from the ground up. The “Connected City” is ignited by the fastest internet and WiFi speeds in the nation using its proprietary ULTRAFi technology. This level of connectivity creates new opportunities for Pasco County, such as roadways specifically for autonomous vehicles, an enviable model for top education, advanced healthcare centers, WiFi Parks and much more.
Upon completion, the community will have around 37,000 homes and over 12 million square feet of commercial space, including office, retail, light industrial, and state-of-the-art education, medical and technology facilities. The plan for The Connected City spans 50 years, with the first homes expected to be complete in fall 2017.

“Crystal Lagoons’ technology provides unprecedented real estate value to any project at very low construction and maintenance costs, and will give families the opportunity to achieve a healthy, active lifestyle in a safe, fun and sustainable environment, for years to come,” said Uri Man, CEO, Crystal Lagoons US, Corp.
With crystal-clear turquoise waters that span in size from seven acres to more than ten acres, these man-made, crystal-clear lagoons are more than 20 times the size of an Olympic Size Swimming Pool and larger than 10 football fields. Crystal Lagoons sustainable technology allows developers to create and maintain an unlimited-sized, crystal-clear lagoon that brings a Caribbean beach-life experience to master-planned communities, hotels, resorts and more around the world.
Crystal Lagoons have become the top amenity for master-planned communities, according to a survey of more than 270 master-planned communities for John Burns Real Estate Consulting annual ranking of the 50 top-selling communities. The man-made lagoons add enormous value to any real estate development and have attracted attention of leading real estate developers such as LeFrak, Soffer and more. Metro Development Group President Greg Singleton said the response has been tremendous with 2,000 people on a waiting list to live in the community with only two billboards marketing the new development.
“Metro Development Group is proud to be the home for the first Crystal Lagoon in the U.S.,” said Greg Singleton, President of Metro Development Group. “The residents will enjoy a first-of-its kind Crystal Lagoon community in the U.S.”

Both Crystal Lagoons and Metro Development Group recognize the consumer demand for communities that extend beyond the home and are environmentally conscious. Crystal Lagoons technology earned patent protection from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Fast-Track Program for Green Technologies, which provides advancement in sustainability. This amenity uses 50 percent less water than a park of the same size, 30 times less water than an 18-hole golf course, 100 times less chemicals than a swimming pool and up to 50 times less energy than conventional pool filtration systems. Moreover, these lagoons can use any type of water including fresh, brackish and salt water, thus removing the need for potable water.
Crystal Lagoons is an international technology company based in Miami, Florida that has developed an innovative concept and technology, patented in 190 countries, allowing for the construction and maintenance of unlimited size bodies of water in crystal clear conditions at low cost. Founded in 2007, Crystal Lagoons’ impressive turquoise waters are revolutionizing not only the real estate world but also water and energy production.
This will be the first completed lagoon in the U.S. The company has announced 14 lagoons in the U.S. since it opened its U.S. Headquarters in Miami in 2014. Worldwide, Crystal Lagoons has a portfolio of more than 600 projects – in different development stages – in 60 countries.
